DAY 2 CHIANG KHONG Transfer to the Laos Border (B)

Day 1

DAY 1 – CHIANG RAI – CHIANG KHONG White Temple, Blue Temple, Golden Triangle & Opium Museum (L)

Pick-up from Chiang Rai airport (arrival by 10:00) or from hotel. Meet with your English-speaking guide.

We begin the day with a visit to the iconic White Temple (Wat Rong Khun), one of the most unique religious sites in Thailand. This extraordinary temple is known for its all-white structure symbolizing the purity of the Buddha and decorated with mirrored glass representing enlightenment.

We continue with the Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten), a modern architectural masterpiece featuring cobalt-blue tones and gold accents. Completed in 2016, the temple houses a stunning white seated Buddha and offers a serene, contemporary atmosphere that blends tradition and innovation.

We then head north to the legendary Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge. The site is located near Sop Ruak, where the Mekong and Ruak Rivers meet. Once a major hub of opium trade, it is now a historical and cultural attraction.

We visit the Wat Phra That Pu Khao, a hilltop temple offering panoramic views of the Golden Triangle and surrounding landscapes, and then continue to the Hall of Opium Museum, which provides deep insight into the region’s history with the opium trade and the impact on local hill tribe communities.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant during the excursion.
In the late afternoon, transfer to your hotel in Chiang Khong. Check-in and overnight stay.

Day 2

DAY 2 – CHIANG KHONG – Transfer to the Laos Border (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. At 07:00, meet the driver and transfer to the Thailand–Laos border.
After completing border formalities, passengers may purchase a bus ticket (not included) to cross the bridge to the Laotian side.
